Oil spill vacuum systems
Vacuum systems
Vacuum systems are widely used due to their versatility. They can be used to recover a wide range of liquids from the ground or water and transport the recovered product. Vacuum trucks are widely available and often called into service for spill clean up, they can suck any kind of oil and can handle trash too. Vacuum systems are not very good at recovering oil on water unless a skimmer is attached to the suction hose.
There are now many unique portable vacuum systems that are sold for oil spill cleanup. Large vacuum trailers may be very powerful and carry up to 1000 gallons. Alternatively the vacuum pump may be mounted in a trailer for towing behind a pickup truck, however these systems may be limited to road access. A new All Terrain Vacuum system is now available mounted on ATV tires and tracks for offroad use.
